Boone Electric Cooperative assisting in Hurricane Zeta restoration

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After making landfall, Hurricane Zeta knocked out power to millions across the southern coast.

Boone Electric Cooperative is responding to a call for help from Electric cooperatives in Alabama.

Boone Electric Cooperative will send six lineworkers with trucks and equipment to help restore power to the members of Clarke Washington Electric Membership Corporation in Jackson, Alabama for the next 10 days. Clarke Washington EMC lost power to all of its 14,000 customers.

This will be BEC’s fifth mutual aid trip connected to hurricanes hitting the Gulf Coast this year.

This is the third mutual aid trip over the last 30 days for storms.

Crews went to DeRidder, Louisiana for Hurricane Laura restoration efforts, one crew traveled to DeRidder after Hurricane Delta and this trip to Alabama for Hurricane Zeta.

Crews will travel to Tupelo, Mississippi this Friday. They will continue to Alabama the following morning.
