COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Multiple crews responded to a residential area in east Columbia for a death investigation Thursday afternoon.

Police department spokesman Jeff Pitts said in an email officers responded to a lake near the area of Spring Mountain Drive and Dumas Drive around 12:15 p.m.

Boone County deputies and Columbia fire crews were also called to the area.

Pitts wasn't able to provide any additional details about the incident.

Officers said it was under investigation.
