More than 200 customers under boil advisory in south Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The city of Columbia issued a precautionary boil advisory Friday night for 248 customers due to water main repairs.

The repairs are happening in the area of 3011 Lynnwood Drive. According to a news release, affected customers will get a hang tag on their door and a phone call.

The city said that it issues advisories when there is a water main break that causes the pressure to drop because the drop could cause a back flow issue.

Water quality tests take 24 hours to process, according to the city. Officials said this means boil advisories typically last for one day.

Anyone under the advisory is urged to boil their water for three minutes before drinking it or cooking with it.
