Downtown Columbia streets closed Monday morning as police talk woman down from garage

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police were able to bring a woman safely down from the top of a downtown parking garage Monday morning.

Police were sent to a call of a woman standing and sitting on the railing at the top of the garage at Fifth and Walnut streets at about 9:30 a.m., according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Crisis negotiators got her to come down at about 11 a.m., the release said.

Access to some downtown streets was restricted during the incident.
