BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 101-year-old man who went missing in Columbia has been found dead, authorities say.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an endangered silver alert Sunday morning for Dabney Doty of Columbia. The patrol said Doty's family had last spoken to him Wednesday and that he had possibly walked out of his house.

Authorities tracked his cellphone, which showed it was still near his home in the 100 block of West Ridgely Road, the patrol said.

Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert asking the public for help finding Doty shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.
