COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department said on Friday that a pedestrian was killed while crossing Paris Road around 3:30 a.m. after a hit-and-run crash.

CPD said 23-year-old Hunter Sadler, of Mexico, was pronounced dead at the scene. A release from the police department shows Sadler was involved in a single-vehicle crash in the 6000 block of Paris Road and had gotten out of the car and started walking.

According to the release, 33-year-old Stephanie Roberts crashed into Sadler. Officers said her vehicle was found in the 7600 block of North Zach Road.

She was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident and involuntary manslaughter.

ABC 17 spoke with Trent Brooks, MoDOT Central District Traffic Engineer, who said they had crew members on the scene of the accident to help with traffic flow.

“That’s the information we got was from them about that there had been a crash and then the pedestrian that got out of their car and gotten hit,” said Brooks.

Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert around 3:30 Friday morning that Paris Road was closed at Waco Road for a police incident.
