Traffic backed up on eastbound I-70 after crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: Traffic began moving after authorities reopened I-70 eastbound.

The Columbia Fire Department said in a tweet at 8:18 p.m. that the right lane of 70 was open, and that the passing lane was closed from the connector to the Lake of the Woods exit.

An 8:24 p.m. alert from the Boone County Office of Emergency Management said both eastbound lanes are back open.

ORIGINAL: One lane of eastbound I-70 in Columbia was blocked Sunday night for a crash, causing a significant traffic backup.

The Columbia Fire Department said in a tweet that one lane was blocked for an "accident" near the HWY 63 connector at mile marker 129.

MoDOT traffic cameras, which are available on the department's traveler map, showed a long line of cars moving slowly alongside several emergency lights around 8 p.m.
