Mid-Missouri authorities search for Mengqi Elledge

Mengqi Elledge was reported missing in October, Boone County prosecutors say her husband Joseph Elledge is at the center of their investigation.

The Mid-Missouri Sheriff's Dive Team posted on Facebook Tuesday authorities searched for Mengqi Elledge.

Divers searched all day looking for the missing Columbia women to no avail. We will resume searching next week.

The post shows divers didn't find Elledge they were searching for. It also shows divers are expected to continue searching next week.

According to a press release from city spokesman Steve Sapp, the search took place in the Lamine River and will resume on Dec. 3. Several agencies assisted with the search.

Columbia detectives were able to narrow down a specific area that needed further exploration after speaking with Joseph Elledge.

Elledge pleaded not guilty to charges for child abuse and neglect Tuesday. He is currently listed in the Boone County jail.
