Jefferson City woman charged in connection to Cole County homicide

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 27-year-old Jefferson City woman is now in custody and charged with murder in the death of an 80-year-old man.

At 7:29 p.m. Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, Cole County Deputies responded to a house in the 3200 block of Landing Creek Road for an unconscious man with serious injuries. The man was pronounced dead on scene, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Cole County Sheriff's Office's investigation led to the a 27-year-old woman from Jefferson City being taken into custody at the scene and charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action. The charges have been turned over to the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for formal charges.

The suspect is being held without bond in the Cole County Jail. The Cole County Sheriff said the investigation is still ongoing.
