MoDOT to perform maintenance on U.S. Route 54 Missouri River Bridges in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Sunday MoDOT will begin maintenance work on U.S Route 54 Missouri River Bridge in Jefferson City. 

The maintenance is scheduled to start on the eastbound and westbound bridges on July 24th and take place everyday between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. With work expected to be complete on July 28th.

MoDOT says, while the work is being done, the flow of traffic will be different, roads will be closed so they are urging drivers to use caution and stay focused as they travel through the work zones.

While the work is being done, MoDOT says one bridge at a time will be reduced to a single lane of traffic.

Crews also plan to close the entrance ramps from McCarty Street and Main Street to Eastbound Route 54.

 Additionally, the entrance ramp from Route W to Westbound Route 54 will be closed.

MoDOT says, they will have signs to alert travelers to the closures and ask all travelers to obey all traffic signs posted.

While work is scheduled to happen from July 24. - July 28. between 6:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. MoDOT says all maintenance is weather permitting and could be delayed.
