JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has appointed Mark Ruether as the next Cole County Auditor.

Ruether was appointed to fill the remainder of the term of current Cole County Auditor, Kristen Berhorst, who is leaving to become the director of finance at Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City.

Ruether will be sworn into office Thursday morning by Cole County Circuit Judge Daniel Green.

"I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve the citizens and taxpayers of Cole County as the next County Auditor. Auditor Berhorst has run this office with a high degree of skill and professionalism, and I hope to continue the standards she has set for this office," said Ruether.
