Sheriff: Blair Oaks students made violent comments on school bus
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two students talking about committing violence at school while riding on a bus led to the lockdown of the Blair Oaks School District campus Tuesday, Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler said.
The school was locked down for about 45 minutes Tuesday morning as deputies investigated an apparent threat, the district's high school principal and acting superintendent, Chris Marshall, said in a statement Tuesday. Wheeler said in a news release Wednesday morning that deputies determined two students "made some inappropriate comments in reference to committing violence at the school."
"There was no immediate threat to students at any time," Wheeler said. The students were detained and taken to the Prenger Family Center to be questioned, he said.
"No weapons of any type were displayed," Wheeler said.
It's not clear what type of punishment the students could face. Information about juveniles is protected under law, as are school records related to discipline.
