KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man and a woman from Eldon were hurt in a crash that briefly closed westbound Highway 54 southwest of Jefferson City on Friday.

Karen Davenport, 65, suffered serious injuries in the Friday morning crash and William Davenport suffered serious injuries, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. The crash happened when a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was driving on Highway 54 at Route D and the Davenports' SUV failed to yield when getting onto the highway, the patrol reported.

The Davenports were taken by ambulance to University Hospital.

Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler tweeted at about 10 a.m. that the crash was delaying traffic. The scene was cleared by 11 a.m., according to Wheeler's tweets.
