Teenager killed in Cole County crash

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 17-year-old was killed in a crash in Cole County on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 2:15 p.m. on Walnut Acres Road near Stringtown Station Road.

According to the crash report, the vehicle went around a curve too fast, causing the driver to lose control. Troopers said the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid. The vehicle ended up traveling off the right side of the road and striking an embankment before overturning.

Troopers said the passenger, Kelton Sellers, 17, of Jefferson City was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the crash report, Sellers was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said the driver, 18-year-old Kaleb Mauzy, was wearing a seat belt. The crash report did not list any injuries for Mauzy.
