Weather contributes to Cole County serious injury crash

COLE COUNTY, Mo.

A Miller County teen was hurt Friday when his truck hydroplaned and hit a tree near the Osage River in Cole County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the 16-year-old boy was driving on Route B near Scheuler Ferry Road when his Ford Ranger drove through standing water, went off the left side of the road and hit a tree at about 7:10 p.m. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital by ambulance, the patrol said.

The Tuscumbia teen was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol's crash report. The patrol did not disclose his name.
