Jefferson City officer injured during foot chase

Officials say a Jefferson City Police officer was injured while trying to arrest a fleeing suspect Saturday morning on Jefferson Street.

Four suspects were taken into custody for outstanding warrants.

Officers responded at 11 Saturday morning to the Holiday Inn on Jefferson Street to a report of trespassing.

During the investigation, two of the suspects 38-year-old Richard Matthews and 34-year-old Zachariah Jones fled the scene on foot initiating a chase.

The Jefferson City police officer injured his leg while attempting to catch the suspects.

Both suspects were eventually caught and taken into custody. Matthews was found to have multiple felony warrants.

The remaining two suspects, Angelika Tocco and Christopher Goff were also taken into custody on individual warrants.

All four suspects were booked into the cole county jail. the cole county prosecutor is requesting multiple drug-related charges.
