COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No one was hurt when a train and a special vehicle designed to operate on railroad tracks collided Monday near the site of a deadly crash last year.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train hit a side-by-side stuck on the tracks on Mike Road north of Mendon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a social media post. The crash happened around 8:40 a.m.

The train's cargo was not damaged but the engine was and the side-by-side was destroyed.

An Amtrak train crashed in June 2022 near Mendon, colliding with a dump truck and killing four people.
