Woman dies in boat crash at the Lake of the Ozarks, driver arrested for boating while intoxicated

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sunrise Beach woman was killed during a boat crash at the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday night.

According to an incident report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Nicholette McKenna, 44 was killed in the crash that occurred when the boat got too close to the dock, hit a wake and then hit the breakwater.

McKenna was pronounced dead on scene.

The crash happened just before 8 pm at the 24 mile mark main channel.

An online arrest report also states that the driver of the Boat, Bobby Chiders,60 of Sunrise Beach was arrested shortly after the crash for allegedly boating while intoxicated. He is charged with boating while intoxicated resulting in the death of a person and boating in a careless manner.

Chiders was moderately injured.

The report lists two other occupants on board the boat at the time, ages 21 and 49. They were both taken to Lake Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

The report states that none of the people on the boat were wearing life vests and the boat was totaled.
