Camdenton woman charged in July 2020 wreck
CAMDENTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Camden County woman is charged on multiple counts after a July 2, 2020 wreck on Missouri 7 Highway.
According to court documents, Ashley Menke was the driver of a vehicle that pulled in front of another vehicle just before 7 a.m.
During the investigation into the crash, the trooper found a half-pint of vodka on the floorboard. According to other deputies on scene, Menke smelled of intoxicants, was uncooperative and reluctant to identify herself.
The court documents reveal that during the investigation, the trooper found the driver side seat belt was in the locked position after the crash and made it impossible to move.
While talking to Menke at the hospital, the trooper noticed Menke's eyes were "extremely watery and bloodshot" while also could smell a faint odor of alcohol. Menke told the trooper that she drank half of a pint of alcohol and lied saying she was wearing a seat belt according to court documents.
According to the probable cause statement, the trooper gave Menke a preliminary breath test and Menke blew a .079%.
After getting a search warrant, blood was drawn from Menke and tested. Menke had a blood alcohol level of .147% and had meth in her blood according to court documents.
Menke is charged with DWI - serious physical injury, failure to yield, operating a vehicle without a license and not wearing a seat belt.
