Callaway County deputy returns to full duty after shooting

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
One of the two Callaway County deputies shot on Interstate 70 in October is back on full duty.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook that Cpl. Justin Bax is back at full duty 94 days after the shooting.
Bax and Deputy Gardner Pottorff were shot during a traffic stop on Oct. 14 during a shootout with the suspect, Jonathan Beason.
The sheriff's office previously shared that Bax was back at work on light duty in November.
The sheriff's office wrote Pottorff is still recovering.
"Deputy Pottorff is still healing from complications following surgeries, but we remain hopeful and prayerful for his full recovery. We look forward to seeing him return to light duty soon," the post reads.
Bax was released from the hospital two days after the shooting while Pottorff was released on Oct. 29.
A special prosecutor said in December that no charges will be filed against either deputy.
In a letter to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, prosecutor Roger Johnson said body camera video showed Beason shooting both deputies first.
"The deputies involved acted lawfully using force both as officers conducting an arrest and as individuals in defense of self and others," Johnson wrote.
The Chief Mason Griffith Foundation has raised more than $38,000 in donations for both deputies since shooting, according to its online donations website.
