COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Steedman man who was reported missing and an Endangered Silver Advisory on Thursday has been found safely.

According to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, Richard Thomas Lenkiewicz, 73, of Steedman, was found around 1:30 Friday morning in St. Louis City.

The Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that Lenkiewicz was found at a gas station after someone recognized him from a social media post.

Lenkiewicz was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and his family was notified.

The advisory said he had been missing since 8:30 a.m. Thursday when he left the 9100 block of Beave Butte Court in Steedman.

The release says Lenkiewicz suffers from dementia and is driving a white 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with Missouri registration 89H5BL. According to the advisory, the vehicle was last seen in Jefferson County, heading southbound from Jeffco Boulevard and Starling Airport Road.

The report says Lenkiewicz typically is driven by another person when he needs to go somewhere, but he drove from his home by himself and his destination is unknown, though he may be heading to a casino.

He has brown-and-gray hair and brown eyes. The report says it is unknown what clothes he could be wearing, but he is “known to typically be dressed in a flannel shirt and jeans.”
