COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday released the name of a man killed in a weekend shooting in Steedman.

Orion Quesenberry, 26, was the man killed early Saturday in the 8000 block of Route C. The sheriff's office said last weekend that Quesenberry was shot by a business employee during a confrontation. The shooting happened at about 1:30 a.m., the sheriff's office says.

Authorities released no other details and reiterated the reasons for secrecy in a Facebook post Tuesday.

"We understand the gravity of a human life lost and wish to emphasize that such matters are handled with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity," the sheriff's office wrote. "The investigative process is extensive and detailed, often spanning weeks or months, to ensure that all relevant facts are obtained and evaluated."

Investigators conducted interviews at the scene and gathered evidence including DNA and blood samples, videos and photographs, the post says. Investigative materials will be turned over the prosecutors office when the inquiry is complete, the post says.

"We respectfully request that community members reserve judgment while the investigation is ongoing and allow the investigative and review process to proceed unhindered," the sheriff's office wrote.
