Man found guilty in first jury trial in new Callaway County Justice Center

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The first jury trial in the new Callaway County Justice Center wrapped up this week.

Thursday, a Callaway County jury found Mark Randall Pullum guilty of assault and burglary after a two day trial. The trial was the first of its kind in a new court building for Callaway County.

Pullum was found guilty in a trial presided over by Judge Joshua Devine. Pullum is charged with breaking into a neighbor's home and assaulting them in a way that left the victim blind in the left eye. The jury suggested a sentence of 25 years for first degree assault and 10 years for first degree burglary. Pullum is held without bond until his sentencing hearing on Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.

The new Callaway County Justice Center opened May 9. Prosecuting Attorney Ben Miller said the upgraded technology and increased security creates a safer and more efficient justice system.

“I cannot express enough our gratitude and sincere appreciation to the citizens of Callaway County for supporting the passage of the law enforcement sales tax that made our new Justice Center possible," Miller said. "We also are grateful to all of the incredibly dedicated employees of Callaway County -- public servants who work tirelessly serving our community.”
