MU Health Care celebrates Jackson Road Medical Building grand opening in Boonville

BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

MU Health Care on Tuesday celebrated the grand opening of its new Jackson Road Medical Building in Boonville.

The 14,000 square-foot facility opened its doors March 27

The building -- located at 516 Jackson Road -- features an urgent care with extended hours, primary care, imaging including a CT scanner, lab and therapy services, according to a press release.

The new building expands upon MU Health Care’s presence in rural Missouri, to include clinics in Fulton, Fayette, Ashland and Mexico.

Access to healthcare is becoming challenging in rural Missouri communities. From 2010-21, 136 health systems and hospitals closed in rural areas. Boonville was among them.

When Pinnacle Regional Hospital closed in February 2020, MU Health Care joined with Boonville and Cooper County leaders to find both immediate and long-term health care options for the community. In July 2020, MU Health Care opened its eighth family medicine clinic at 102 Isle of Capri Blvd. in Boonville with providers the community already knows and trusts.

The MU Health Care Family Medicine Clinic in Boonville will relocate to the Jackson Road Medical Building featuring former Pinnacle Regional Hospital family medicine doctors Mona Brownfield and Robert Koch, and nurse practitioner Lori Weekly.

“It’s been a whole new world,” Brown said. “It’s been a few providers in the area trying to absorb all those patients and  trying to find enough space to see all those patients. So it’s been very hindering over the past few years for sure.”

Mizzou Therapy Services, also moved into the building.
