Power outages reported in Moniteau, Boone counties

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Utilities reported power outages in Moniteau and Boone counties Monday afternoon after storms went through Mid-Missouri.

Boone Electric Cooperative reported about 100 members without power in southern Boone County as of 5:15 p.m. Emergency dispatchers had earlier issued public alerts about a closure of Ash Street in Ashland because of a downed tree and power line.

Winds of 50 mph were reported at Columbia Regional Airport at 4:15 p.m.

Dispatchers also reported lines done at Route OO and Highway 124 in Hallsville. Ameren Missouri later reported a few hundred customers in the Hallsville area without power.

Boone County emergency managers reported trees down near Hallsville and Radcliffe Drive in Columbia.

About 270 Ameren Missouri customers in the Clarksburg area of Moniteau County were without power, as well. Smaller Ameren outages were reported in California, St. Martins and Jefferson City, along with about 20 customers in the Ashland area.

Power had been restored to most affected Moniteau County customers by 5:45 p.m.

Ameren also reported a small outage in Randolph County.

A Boone County Fire Protection District spokesperson said lightning hit a transformer in the Hallsville incident.
