No children hurt in Hallsville school bus crash

HALLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

No students were injured when a Hallsville school bus was in a crash Thursday afternoon.

The bus rear-ended a vehicle at the Route B and Route HH intersection north of Columbia, the Boone County Fire Protection District's Gale Blomenkamp said. The bus went off the road and ended up in a ditch on the east side of the highway, Blomenkamp said.

The driver of the car involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Administrators went to the crash site, Hallsville School District spokeswoman Kari Yeagy wrote in an email. A second bus was sent to pick up the kids and the driver was finishing the route at about 5 p.m., Yeagy wrote.

Each Hallsville bus carries students from all four district schools, she said.

The crash happened at about 4 p.m. and led to traffic backups on Route B.
