BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A fire burned a shop building on residential property to the ground near Ashland on Tuesday.

The building was located near Bentlage Drive and South Hagans Road, east of Ashland. Southern Boone Fire Protection District firefighters were sent to the property at about 12:30 p.m.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw the shop burned to the ground with smoke still hanging in the air at about 2:30 p.m.

The homeowner was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, said fire district Chief James Bullard. The shop held an RV, boat and antique vehicles, Bullard said.

A cause wasn't immediately known and a fire marshal was investigating Tuesday afternoon.
