Crashes slow Interstate 70 traffic on opposite sides of Boone County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A crash that apparently involved a tractor-trailer caused traffic issues for eastbound Interstate 70 travelers late Tuesday morning, while another crash a couple of hours later caused problems about 20 miles away.
First responders were sent to the bridge a little before noon for a crash at the 115-mile marker on the eastbound side. Workers are building a new bridge and the area is a work zone with traffic routed head-to-head.
Emergency dispatchers sent out a public alert warning of traffic delays from the crash and asking drivers to avoid the area. Radio traffic indicated a tractor-trailer and passenger vehicle were involved and extrication was needed.
At least one lane was closed during the response.
About two hours later another lane of eastbound I-70 was closed in eastern Boone County at mile-marker 135 after a multi-vehicle crash. The scene was cleared about an hour later. Other details were not available Tuesday afternoon.
