No injuries reported in northern Boone County fire

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

First responders were on the scene Tuesday afternoon for a report of a fire at a northern Boone County home near North Gilbert and West Dripping Springs roads.

The cause of fire is still under investigation. No injuries have been reported. The homeowner is out of town. No one was home at the time of the fire. Boone County fire officials said they will notify the owner.

"The owner of the house is renovating this old residential structure and we'll be notifying him that there's been a fire here and he can then work with our investigators, " Chuck Leake, of the Boone County Fire Protection District, said.

Leake noted that smoke filled the house on all four sides, but the smoke was put out within minutes.

"Initially when we got here there was smoke coming from all four sides of the house," Leake said. "We managed to get a crew in fairly quickly and make a good knock down."

An ABC 17 News reporter saw at least four fire trucks on the scene, as well as two Boone County Sheriff’s deputies.

The fire crew arrived at 5:20 pm. The scene was officially cleared around 6:50 pm.
