Appeals court upholds decision favoring former Sturgeon police chief

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An appeals court on Tuesday upheld a decision favoring the former Sturgeon police chief.

The court says the city didn't follow the law when it fired Greg Halderman in 2017.

The panel of judges reversed a decision finding councilman Tyler Patterson interfered with Halderman's job.

This means Halderman will keep his $315,000 judgment.

A Boone County judge will also decide how much the city needs to pay for Halderman's attorney fees.
