Boone County Commission to hold another information session about ARPA funds

The Boone County Commission announced Thursday in a press release that it will have another community information and listening session about American Rescue Plan Act funding.

The meeting will take place 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14. at Urban Empowerment, 2404 Industrial Drive in Columbia.

Previous sessions were hosted in February at various locations throughout Boone County.

During the first round of applications, the county has $15 million in American Rescue Plan money it can distribute to qualifying businesses and organizations, according to a press release from the commission.

The application is on the Commission's website. It's accepting applications until 5 p.m. Friday, March 31. Approval of applications from the first round of funding is expected to be decided by early June.

Earlier this week, the county said it had received 10 applications so far.

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 was signed into law on March 11, 2021. The Act established the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds program, which provides funding that must be allocated for pandemic rescue and recovery efforts.
