Gov. Parson looking to appoint new Boone County Treasurer

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Gov. Mike Parson hopes to appoint a new Boone County treasurer by late February/early March after the former treasurer resigned in January.

Last week, Christy Johnson was appointed by the Boone County Commission to serve as the interim treasurer until a permanent appointment to the position is made by the governor.

Johnson served under the former Boone County Treasurer Tom Darrough.

If an appointment is made soon enough, the new treasurer will have to stand for election in the general election held this November.

Johnson said she is not interested in the position long-term.

"I like the job I have I like doing what I do I like working for the county but I do not want to be treasurer more than just during the interim," says Christy Johnson, interim treasurer for Boone County.
