Firefighters help men trapped in Boone County floodwaters

McBAINE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Firefighters rescued two men from floodwater in southern Boone County on Monday.

The two men told firefighters their pickup truck, which was pulling a camper, bogged down in the floodwaters on Route K at the Katy Trail at about 8 p.m. Sunday. They refused medical treatment.

Boone County Fire Protection District firefighters walked the men out of the floodwaters. The rescue took about 15 minutes.

Several roads remained flooded Monday after heavy rains inundated the area last week and into the weekend. Parts of Route K are closed between Columbia and McBaine because of the flooding, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation's traveler map. Route VV outside Finger Lakes State Park also remained closed because of flooding Monday.

Boone County's road closure list says more than 20 county-maintained roads remained closed by flooding Monday afternoon.

The fire district also responded to two water rescue calls on Friday and Saturday.
