Truck, hay fire closes Boone County road

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A truck and hay caught on fire Monday afternoon, closing part of a small Boone County road.

Emergency dispatchers sent out a public alert about the fire on North Barnes Road between Hallsville and Sturgeon a little after 4 p.m. An ABC 17 News reporter saw a truck and hay bale in flames at the scene at about 4:30 p.m.

It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was hurt what started the fire, though firefighters responded to several grass fires Monday amid dry conditions.

A neighbor at the scene said the hay had been baled earlier Monday.

Another fire happened earlier in the day on Audrain County Road 208 near Centralia. At least one building was destroyed in that fire.

Boone County Fire Protection District units were sent to each scene.
