STURGEON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sturgeon school building was evacuated Friday because of a bomb threat school officials say.

Sturgeon R-V Superintendent Geoff Neill said in a news release, a staff member found the threat written in a bathroom inside the district's K-8 building. School officials say the district went into its "crisis protocol."

School officials notified the Sturgeon Police Department and the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Neill said authorities used K-9 units to check the building and determined it was safe to reenter.

The release did not say if items related to the threat were found.
