Sturgeon Superintendent accepts job at Gasconade R-I
STURGEON, Mo. (KMIZ)
Sturgeon R-V administrators say Superintendent Geoff Neill is leaving the district for the same position at a Gasconade County school district.
A release on the school district's website said Neill has been Sturgeon's superintendent for the last three years and will be starting at Gasconade R-I on July 1.
Neill said he's excited to be closer to friends and family.
"It was a really hard decision, Sturgeon is a great place," Neill said. "My family and I are very thankful to the community and we are excited to join the Gasconade County R-1 School District."
Neill will continue serving as superintendent through June 30. The school board accepted his resignation Tuesday morning.
School board president Misty Doss said the district is using the Missouri Association of Rural Education to find the next superintendent.
Doss said in a statement, "We have enjoyed having Neill as he has done some great things for our school district and our community. We wish he and his family the best."
