Reports of icy conditions in Boone County on Monday morning

Boone County Joint Communications says bridges and overpasses were covered in ice Monday morning.

The tweet said county residents should drive with caution.

Boone County first responders said five vehicles were involved in a weather-related crash near Sturgeon.

An ABC 17 News crew at the scene said state troopers, Boone County sheriff's deputies and others were called to the wreck.

Multiple vehicles had to be towed from the crash site.

MoDOT said in a tweet some roads around the area were partially covered and for drivers to pay more attention to bridges and raised roadways.

A wintry mix started falling in Mid-Missouri after 7 a.m. ABC 17 has received reports of sleet coming down in Columbia, Boonville and Jefferson City.

An earlier tweet from joint communications said a resident reported icy conditions on roadways in the northern part of the county.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack team called a Weather Alert Day for the conditions. It continues throughout Monday.
