Power back on for more than 2,000 Boone Electric customers in south Columbia

A truck crashed into a Boone County Electric Cooperative pole near Vermillion Drive on Thursday and knocked out power for more than 2,000 electric co-op customers.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Electric Cooperative crews restored power for more than 2,000 customers in south Columbia on Thursday.

The electric co-op tweeted the outage was caused by a truck crash with a power pole near Route K and Vermillion Drive. The tweet said power could have been shut off for four hours. Crews tweeted again around 3 p.m. power had been restored.

Boone County Joint Communications tweeted at 2:46 p.m. that the outage affected a stoplight at the intersection of Old Plank Road and South Providence Road.

Lights were out for co-op customers for about two hours. It's unclear if any people were injured from the crash.
