Mexico car fire causes damage to vehicle, nearby home

MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

One car and a home in Mexico, Missouri, were damaged after a fire was set to the vehicle on Monday.

The Mexico Public Safety Department responded to a car fire in the 700 block of Singleton Street at 6:28 p.m., according to a press release from the department.

Crews found a 2002 Hyundai sedan with a large fire in the passenger compartment. The fire was extinguished. The release says the car had extensive damage and the house it was parked next to also had heat damage.

An initial investigation "indicates the fire was started as part of an ongoing disturbance between the people who use the vehicle," according to the release.
