Audrain County Health Department and the State of Missouri warn about an imposter health inspector
MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Audrain County Health Department is warning the public about an impostor health inspector going around the state.
The Department of Health and Senior Services said in an email it's gotten two separate reports of someone impersonating a health inspector from DHSS.
“We have received two separate reports of individuals impersonating a “health inspector” here at DHSS. This can look like someone calling to schedule an inspection or arriving on-site and stating they are a ‘health inspector’, stated an E-Mail from the Bureau of Environmental Health Services within DHSS in a release. “It is important to know that this could be happening in your area. If you are aware of an individual impersonating a ‘health inspector’, please let local authorities know.”
An Audrain County Environmental Public Health Specialist says inspectors will always provide proper identification and they do not charge for inspections.
“Our inspectors, myself included, will always present the establishment owner or manager one of our business cards or employee ID card,” Specialist Sarah Palmer said in a release. “Also, we do not charge for inspections so we won’t ask the owner/manager to pay anything.”
They also said their department does not schedule health inspections.
No reports to local law enforcement of someone claiming to be a health inspector have been received in Audrain County.
