SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Political turmoil is erupting within one of the largest Native American tribes in the U.S. as the top attorney for the Navajo Nation announced that an investigation has cleared the Navajo president of sexual harassment allegations by the vice president. Even as results of the investigation were announced Monday, Navajo Nation Attorney General Ethel Branch was removed from office by tribal lawmakers. The investigation found that the allegations against President Buu Nygren did not constitute sexual harassment. Nygren expressed vindication and also warned of political instability with implications for major Navajo Nation ventures.
