CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Republican John Barrasso has won reelection as Wyoming’s senior U.S. senator. Barrasso beat Scott Morrow, a retired postal union official from Laramie. Barrasso was heavily favored to win reelection against the little-known Democrat in deeply Republican Wyoming. Barrasso was first appointed to the Senate after the death of Sen. Craig Thomas in 2007. He has risen to prominence as chair of the Senate Republican Conference, the third-ranking GOP position in the chamber. He is also ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Meanwhile, Republican Harriet Hageman won a second term as Wyoming’s congresswoman after she, too, defeated a little-known Democrat.
