Kamala Harris steps up outreach to Mormon voters in battleground Arizona

Associated Press

PHOENIX (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris is stepping up her efforts to win over voters who belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Democratic presidential nominee is enlisting prominent members of the faith to make the case in the battleground state of Arizona that Donald Trump doesn’t align with the church’s values. Harris’ Arizona campaign on Thursday announced an advisory committee to formalize its work to engage current and former members of the church, widely known as the Mormon church. Latter-day Saints make up 6% of Arizona’s population and could be pivotal in deciding a close race.
