4 Las Vegas teens plead guilty in classmate’s deadly beating as part of plea deal

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Four Las Vegas teenagers have pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the fatal beating of their high school classmate. Their pleas were entered Tuesday in Clark County juvenile court as part of a deal with prosecutors that kept them from being tried as adults. They originally were charged as adults with second-degree murder in the November death of 17-year-old Jonathan Lewis Jr. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the teens face incarceration at a juvenile detention center for an undetermined length of time. While a defense lawyer representing one of the four teens called the deal fair, Lewis’ mother said she doesn’t agree with it.
