Wisconsin Assembly passes sweeping bill to overhaul liquor law

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The laws governing Wisconsin’s multibillion-dollar liquor industry has passed the state Assembly. The bill approved on Wednesday is supported by the smallest craft brewers to the largest national brewers, bar owners and alcohol distributors. It creates a new division to oversee and enforce the state’s liquor laws. The sweeping update to the laws affecting the production, distribution and sale of alcohol passed with bipartisan support, and has been years in the making. The measure now heads to the Senate for final approval. Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, who was involved with discussions of the measure, is expected to sign it into law.
