Greek police arrest 10, seize cocaine from banana shipment

THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — Greek authorities say police have arrested 10 people for smuggling drugs from South America to Europe. The arrests made in coordination with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency took place on Tuesday in northern Greece’s port city of Thessaloniki. Police seized 105 kilograms (230 pounds) of cocaine that they allege was unloaded from a merchant ship several days earlier. They say the coke was hidden in a consignment of bananas from Ecuador that was headed to North Macedonia. Police identified the people arrested as seven Greek and three Albanian nationals.
