Kidnappers who snatched San Jose baby are sentenced

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Two people who kidnapped a 3-month-old baby from his San Francisco Bay Area home last year have been sentenced to prison. Yesenia Ramirez was sentenced Monday to nearly 13.5 years in prison. Jose Portillo received five years. They earlier pleaded no contest to kidnapping Brandon Cuellar from his San Jose apartment last April. Prosecutors say Ramirez was a family friend and took the child because she’d lied to a boyfriend, claiming she’d given birth to his child and was going to bring the baby home from the hospital. She apologized for the kidnapping during her sentencing.
