Oregon courthouse security video shows escaping defendant
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Newly released video in Oregon shows a defendant escaping from a courthouse seconds after sheriff’s deputies remove his shackles. Edi Villalobos Jr. was in court in a Portland last month for jury selection after he allegedly stabbed two men, and killed one, two years ago. One officer removes Villalobos’ hand and leg cuffs, in line with legal requirements for the court session. Villalobos scoots behind two desk chairs and runs out the unguarded courtroom door, sprints down hallways and through two doors with officers in pursuit. He was found later that day in a vacant apartment.
