FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Jurors in the penalty trial of Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz have arrived for their second day of deliberations to examine the gun he used to murder 17 people. Jurors found in their room Thursday the AR-15-style rifle Cruz used in the 2018 attack at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. They had asked late Wednesday to see the gun, but the courthouse security team objected, even though the gun has been made inoperable. Prosecutors pointed out that in murder trials, jurors are always allowed to examine the weapon. The defense agreed.
