St. Louis detectives fatally shoot man after chase; police say he shot at the detectives

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police say a man in a stolen pickup truck who fired at detectives and led them on a lengthy chase has been fatally shot by detectives. Police say detectives tried to stop the stolen truck around 7 a.m. Thursday after spotting it being driven dangerously. The driver refused to stop and a chase began. It lasted 45 minutes and ended when the truck crashed in Jefferson County. Police say the driver fired several shots at the detectives during the chase. They were not struck. Police say the driver got out of the wrecked vehicle armed with a gun, and the detectives shot him.
